This week there was a great free community program taking place at the Thunder Bay Marina. It was the Urban Youth Hide Tanning Camp. It encouraged the younger generation to come out and learn how to work with moose hides. My wife and I brought her mom and sister for a couple days and they provided additional wisdom to the organizers which was a great site to see.

This past Thursday Giinawind hosted their opening of the 13 Moons Exhibit on June 1st, 2022 to bring in and celebrate National Indigenous History Month.
The exhibit included 13 Ribbon Skirts and 13 Ribbon Skirts representing each moon. It was created by various artists.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph safe cycling skills with students at École Elsie MacGill Public School which was put on by EcoSuperior.
Safe Cycling Thunder Bay and WOW TBay offer school cycling programs to give students the knowledge to ride their bikes safely and enjoy their journey to and from school.

It was another great event put on by EcoSuperior and hosted by Sleeping Giant Brewery. A group of volunteers went out into the city to help make our areas cleaner and to also raise awareness. It was a very rainy day, but that didn’t hold anyone back.

I had a great time photographing the Spring Up to Clean Up event, down at City Hall, hosted by EcoSuperior. It’s a month long event that hopes to help keep our city clean, green, and beautiful! It was amazing to see all the volunteers come out to the launch event, but also sad to see to all the litter on the streets and back alleys. Hopefully this will help bring awareness to the situation, and of course, get people out to clean everything up!

One of my favourite events of the year took place this afternoon, The Craft Revival. It actually takes place twice a year, and this was the spring edition. Even though it doesn’t really feel like spring is here with all the snow we have been getting. Regardless, the weather did hold up and it ended up being the perfect day to walk around all the venues downtown.
