This past Saturday the Polar Bear Plunge took place on Lake Superior in Thunder Bay. It’s an annual event that always brings out a lot of people and raises a lot of money for charity. Matawa Health Co-operative hosted its first Diabetes Awareness Walk earlier this week at Intercity Shopping Centre. The purpose was to bring awareness to diabetes, which a major concern amongst young Indigenous people within the Matawa region where access to quality resources, education and diabetes management teams are limited.
