My latest portrait session took place at Maudslay Court, which is location I have been wanting to photograph at for a very long time. I’m still amazed this was my first time inside. Glenda, who lives there, were joined by her two daughters for a beautiful mini session in the courtyard.

It’s always fun to photograph family. My niece Brittney wanted some new photos of her three kids, so I of course found some time to do so. Brittney hadn’t been to Trow Bridge since high school so it was the perfect spot. Plus, it allowed the kids to just run around and have fun. Let’s just say the majority of the photos were candids. All in all, it was a super fun session. Any chance I get to hangout with family is more than welcome.

My first session at Centennial Park was the perfect way to start the day. I had so much fun photographing Kanisha and her family. Eva was so cute, and she had so much personality. We ended up using the side trail at the park, which was a nice change of scenery. As you can see, Fall is definitely here. Hopefully it stays around a while, because it’s the perfect backdrop for these portrait sessions.

It was another day of mini sessions. This time I had a couple at Centennial Park which is now completely full of vibrant colours. Meladina and her family were a pleasure to photograph, and the homemade skirts they had were absolutely beautiful. It was a quick session, but as always, we came away with a lot of great photos.

Anytime families bring their dogs along on a session, I get excited. As it turns out, both of Shawn’s dogs were excited too! A little too much so sometimes, but it was a super fun session regardless. I was able to get a lot of great captures of not only the dogs, but of course her family as well.

Most of my recent mini sessions have been anywhere from 4 to 8 people, but it was just Phalen and her two children this time around. It’s amazing how each time I do a session at the Tree Farm, I find new spots each and every time.

My first round of mini sessions at the Tree Farm were such a hit, that I opened up another date, that also filled up fast. Courtney and her family were one of those families to book a session. Anytime you get to photograph four generations of a family, you know it will be a good day. All four ladies looked amazing, and we all had a great time walking around capturing photos that will be passed down to future generations.

My last session of the day was with Rebecca and her family. Just like with the rest of the families, they were so great in front of the camera. The sun was already a bit lower in the sky, so the lighting was getting really flattering for a lot of the photos. The Tree Farm is such a nice place to walk around and take photos. You can go from towering trees as a backdrop to a secluded trail. The possibilities are endless. I may just have to book some more sessions here before Fall is over!

One of my last sessions of the day was with Cassandra and her family. I actually went to high school with her and her brother Jayden, so it was great to spend some time with her family. They were very laid back which made for such natural looking photos. Going in to mini sessions there is always a part of me that worries about getting enough photos, but I have yet to have a problem with it. It’s easy to do when you have a family like Cassandra’s to work with!

My mini session with Kahla was another very spontaneous one, mainly because of her two boys. I love photographing kids though, because they are always just so full of energy, and there are so many opportunities for candid moments. As you can see from the photos below, I captured a few of those.

The best thing about portrait sessions, is meeting new families. Case in point this past weekend. I met a few different families during my mini session day. Jill and her family were one of those. They were such a pleasure to photograph. We actually covered a lot of ground in just 30 minutes, but in no way did it feel rushed.

It was a busy Sunday full of mini sessions at the Tree Farm in Thunder Bay. My first session of the day was with a very talented local artist Helen and her family. I’ve done product photos her before, but this was my first time photographing her with her family. I was super excited to do so.
