It’s always fun doing a true engagement session. Knowing Jake was going to propose to Abi near the end of the session was exciting for me, and she of course said yes!

My last wedding of the year was such an amazing way to end the season. It was another intimate backyard ceremony, with close friends and relatives. As I mentioned before, if there is a bright side to the current restrictions, it’s that I get to do a lot more of these small weddings, which I absolutely love.

I really can’t wait to photograph Jake and Journee’s wedding in a couple years! It’s still a long way off, so I was happy when they asked me to do a portrait session with them. Even though it took place in Thunder Bay, Courtney Lynn and Jake now live in New Zealand, and a lot of the guests that attended the wedding were also from New Zealand as well. Being originally from Thunder Bay and having lived in New Zealand for the past 5 or so years, Courtney Lynn decided to have the wedding in Thunder Bay mainly because most of her family still lives here. I had met with her about a month before the wedding for the first time and I was immediately surprised that she had an accent from living abroad. Suffice it say, I heard much stronger accents come the day of the wedding and it made for quite the surreal celebration.

Nolalu was the setting for my first wedding of the 2011 season. The forecast called for rain but luckily the weather held up and it ended up being the perfect day for a wedding. The ceremony took place at Silver Falls which was a nice 10 minute walk along a beautiful path. After everyone made their way there, Tara made started her walk towards the alter. As you can tell from the photos below she looked beautiful, which made my job that much easier.
